Information for New Students

Classes are presently based in East London, where we teaches popular classes in the evenings and at weekends. We also teach smaller private lessons with personally-tailored training in North London, at your home, office or gym.

New students are always welcome at our classes – Below are some Frequency Asked Questions:

Can I start anytime?

Yes you can. We have enough instructors and assistant instructors to help people with all levels of ability and fitness. Our classes are friendly and welcoming to new students.

Can beginners join in the class?

Our classes are very beginner friendly. Everyone has to start somewhere, so don’t be put off if you haven’t done a martial art before as it can sometimes help not to have any bad habits!

Do I need to get fit first?

There are no physical requirements – regular training will take care of your strength, fitness, agility, endurance and flexibility.

Can I watch a class first before starting?

Yes, you can watch a class first before participating so that you can get an appreciation of the overall class. If you like what you see and want to give it a go, you can join the following week. But why watch a class when you can try it for free? Before deciding whether we are the right club for you, we allow one FREE INTRODUCTION lesson to all new students.

How often should i train?

This is normally determined by your schedule. Once a week is a good target at the start to see progress. Then if you decide you want to progress at a faster rate later on, we recommend at least twice a week training. You will find that there are some dedicated members who seem to train all the time – don’t be put off by them as it is a personal journey and not a competition.

What should I wear whilst training?

Wear comfortable loose clothing such as a t-shirt and jogging trousers. You may want to bring a bottle of water, towels for shower. We have a training uniform and T-shirts that can be ordered through the instructors if you decide to stay with us for the long haul.

What will I need to pay when I start?

The first lesson is free. We then have a beginner course for £45 for the first month, which include 12 lessons. If you wish to train with us after the beginner course, you will need to pay a monthly tuition fee. You will also need to pay a small annual membership fee.

We also have a special rate for children under 16 and students.

How much is the tuition fee?

Check out the membership fees section for more info.

How much is the annual membership?

Adult's annual membership is £50 and children/students' annual membership is £35. The trial period is a month after which time you must purchase an annual membership.

Can I suspend my payments if I am not able to train?

If you pay your tuition fee a year in advance, then before you are going to be away your membership can be suspended. The minimum period for suspension is one month and the maximum period for suspension is 2 months. If you're paying monthly, you can cancel your payment anytime, providing you let us know a week in advance.
